Does TRT Cause Acne?

Oilier skin and acne are among the more common dermatologic effects.

Does TRT cause acne?

It can. Androgens increase sebum, so oily skin and acne (back, chest, or face) show up in a subset of men, especially after a dose increase or with high peaks on infrequent injections.

Skincare, dose timing changes, and sometimes dermatology care help. Cystic or scarring acne is a reason to adjust the protocol, not to add random internet “PCT” drugs.

FAQs

Does acne mean my estrogen is high?

Not necessarily. Acne is often androgen-driven. Do not start an aromatase inhibitor for pimples without labs and a clinician.
