Does TRT Increase Blood Pressure?

Blood pressure is part of TRT follow-up.

Does TRT increase blood pressure?

It can in some men, through sodium and water retention, hematocrit increase, or sleep apnea worsening. It does not raise blood pressure in everyone. That is why we measure BP rather than guessing from a forum average.

If you already have hypertension, it should be treated to target before and during TRT. A sudden large rise with swelling or headache needs prompt care.

FAQs

Should I stop TRT if my BP is 130/80?

Not by itself. Share home readings with your clinician. The response depends on your baseline, symptoms, and the rest of the labs.
