Does TRT Cause Hair Loss?

Androgen-sensitive scalp hair can thin in men who are genetically predisposed.

Does TRT cause hair loss?

It can accelerate male-pattern (androgenetic) hair loss in men who are genetically susceptible, because scalp follicles in those men are sensitive to androgens including DHT. Men without that trait may notice little change.

This is a cosmetic risk to discuss up front — not a reason to skip medically indicated TRT, and not a reason to add unprescribed DHT blockers without reviewing sexual side effects and prostate context.

FAQs

Will I go bald in months?

Unlikely if you had no family pattern and a full head of hair. If your maternal grandfather and brothers lost hair early, expect that pattern may progress faster once T is replaced.
