How Often Should You Take TRT? Injections, Gels, Pellets & Other Options

Dosing frequency depends on the formulation your clinician chooses.

How often are testosterone injections given?

Cypionate and enanthate are commonly injected weekly or twice weekly (for example, every 3.5 days) to reduce peak-and-trough swings. Older every-2-week intramuscular schedules are used less often because symptoms and hematocrit can swing more.

Subcutaneous and intramuscular routes are both used; your Vita Bella protocol specifies the route, needle, and rotation sites. Do not change frequency because a forum chart looks cleaner.

How often are gels and pellets used?

Transdermal gels are typically applied daily, with transfer precautions for partners and children. Pellets are implanted in clinic and last on the order of months, then are replaced based on levels and symptoms.

Other options (patches, oral undecanoate where available, nasal gel) have their own schedules. “Best” is the method you can use correctly, that hits a physiologic range, and that you can monitor.

Who chooses the schedule?

Your clinician chooses the starting product and interval, then adjusts after labs and how you feel. Convenience matters, but hematocrit, estradiol symptoms, and fertility goals can force a different cadence.

FAQs

Is twice-weekly better than once-weekly?

For many men on cypionate or enanthate, splitting the weekly dose smooths symptoms. It is not mandatory if you are stable and labs look appropriate.

Can I switch from shots to gel?

Often yes, with a new dose and monitoring plan. Do not overlap products unless your clinician designed that handoff.
